Paul's Story
When you really don't have the inclination to "go clubbing" or spending the night in a bar, where do you go to find a date?
That was the problem I had 7 years ago.
So, I decided to do something different and looked at the internet. To my amazement, I found a number of sites and joined a couple to "see how things go." Sound familiar?
At the time I didn't realise how much it was going to take over my life and change it for the better. I'd get home from work, make a meal, and then I'd be on the computer until 11pm searching and "chatting" to potential dates.
The hardest part at first was accepting that many nice looking ladies rejected me without even meeting and getting to know me. I came to realise that actually, it wasn't me at all. After all, they didn't know me. They already had a particular look, height, age in their minds and I didn't match the criteria. Once I understood this, I literally went "next."
I was always nervous meeting a date for the first time, although the benefit here was that I'd already got to know them a little. I followed the rules about where to meet (you know, public places etc) and just had a good time. You soon get to know whether is some chemistry or not. There's many occasions when I left the venue saying to myself "she's nice, but..."
The key here is not to give up or become disheartened as there really is somebody out there for you. By using the internet, I believe you're a major step closer to finding that special someone.
It had turned December and I remember thinking "oh well, another Christmas single." Soon after that I got a message from Angie. My first reply to her was, "thanks for your interest although you're in London and I live in Manchester." Her response was "nothing ventured, nothing gained."
We struck up a relationship online but didn't get to meet until January the following year. Angie had a busy Christmas and New Year so we didn't actually talk until Janaury. Our first conversation was 4 hours and I was paying. Ouch! I was phoning from my landline to her mobile.
Two weeks later we met up. By April Angie had moved in with me.
In August 2005 we moved into our new home together and by this time Angie was expecting our first child.
As you can see from the photos, we got married in May 2008, the 4th best day of my life. Meeting Angie turned out to be the best day of my life, followed by the births of our sons James and Matthew.
We are living proof that internet dating can work for you. No matter what your circumstances, there is definitely someone out there for you. So, keep looking and never give up and you will be as happy as I am.
